Professional paver patios for Sands Point homeowners. Gold Coast peninsula, waterfront estates
Sands Point is the crown jewel of Long Island's Gold Coast — a village of sprawling waterfront estates on the northernmost tip of the Great Neck peninsula where properties routinely sit on two to five or more acres with sweeping views of Long Island Sound and Hempstead Harbor. Brothers Paving & Masonry provides paver patio installations that match the extraordinary scale and refinement these properties demand.
Our Sands Point projects are among the most ambitious we undertake: 1,500 to 3,000-square-foot outdoor living complexes with multiple entertaining zones, full outdoor kitchens, fire features, water elements, and integrated landscape lighting. We work exclusively with the highest-tier materials — Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone, Techo-Bloc Blu Grande, natural bluestone, tumbled travertine, and large-format porcelain — to create surfaces befitting the village's historic estates.
Every Sands Point patio is custom-engineered for the property's specific conditions. We account for waterfront salt exposure, the variable glacial soils of the moraine, mature tree root zones, and the grade changes common on bluff-top parcels. Our construction methods exceed standard practice: deeper bases, enhanced drainage systems, and meticulous hand-setting that ensures each installation performs flawlessly for decades.
Sands Point's geology is defined by its position at the terminus of the Harbor Hill Moraine, where glaciers deposited a complex mix of sand, gravel, clay, and large boulders. Excavation on Sands Point properties regularly encounters significant subsurface obstacles — from clay lenses that impede drainage to glacial erratics that require equipment removal. Brothers Paving's crews are experienced with these conditions and adjust base preparation in real time to ensure every section of the patio has a properly engineered foundation.
The village's waterfront exposure on three sides means salt spray, elevated humidity, and wind-driven rain are constant factors. We specify enhanced-surface pavers and sealed natural stone for all Sands Point installations, and we design drainage systems that account for both surface runoff and the higher water tables common near the shoreline. Properties on elevated bluffs face additional challenges from slope management and erosion control.
Sands Point's estates were built across multiple eras — from the original Gold Coast mansions of the 1920s to mid-century modern homes and contemporary custom builds. Each architectural period requires a different paver aesthetic: formal herringbone or running bond for Georgian and Colonial Revival homes, irregular flagstone patterns for English manor styles, and clean large-format layouts for contemporary architecture. We tailor material selection and pattern design to complement the home's character.
Given the scale and value of Sands Point properties — many exceeding $5 million — our patio installations often coordinate with landscape architects, pool builders, and general contractors. We work seamlessly within these teams, handling our scope with the precision and communication that complex multi-trade projects require.

Learn MoreSands Point's moraine soils are among the most variable on Long Island — we encounter well-drained sandy gravel, dense clay pockets, and embedded boulders often within the same excavation. Our standard Sands Point base is 10-12 inches of compacted aggregate over geotextile fabric, with a clean-stone drainage layer in any zone where clay or high water table is detected. Waterfront properties face accelerated surface wear from salt exposure; we specify factory-sealed pavers or apply professional-grade sealant to natural stone. The village's mature tree canopy — centuries-old oaks and beeches on many estates — requires careful root-zone planning, and we install root barriers where patio edges approach significant trees to protect both the trees and the hardscape.
